Introductions of Guilin

Guilin was formed by the violent movement of the earth's crust 250,000,000 years ago. It lies in the north east part of Guangxi Zhuang municipality. There were lots of charry bays planted in this area 2500 years ago. Therefore this ancient city got its name---Guilin. Guilin is not only famous for its history and culture but also the beauty of the landscape. We can even say it is a perfect combination of nature and culture. Chinese famous poet of Tang Dynasty ---Hanyu, had a poem that gave a vivid description of Guilin's landscape. It says the water of Li River is flowing across the mountains, just like the silk cestus ballooning by the wind. And the mountains are just like the jade headgear wearing by a lady.
Guilin is on the list of the world's seven great wonders. And how to support its future development is always the first concern by our government. Guilin Lianjiang international airport, which is the national third big airport, has put into use in 1996. From 1998 to 2002, Guilin has fulfilled it city planning on a large scale.

Introductions of Xinan:

Xinan is located at 60kilos north of Guilin, which is the main part of pan-Guilin travelling area. The travelling resources in Xinan is special and with a superior taste. They are Ling Canal, Maoer Mountain, Red Army Cemetery, Yanguan, Historic site of Qing Dynsty, Wuli Gorge and so on. All these make up a whole travelling sites combing nature and culture, which is including the beauty of nature, the wonder of manual work and the charm of mountains and rivers.

1. Ling Canal
Ling Canal, situated at north of Xinan, is 58kilos far from Guilin. Built in 214B.C. (Qin Dynsty 33), which is called Qin Canal. And people also call it as Steep Canal.
Ling Canal is an ancient canal connecting Xian River in Hunan province with Li River in Guangxi province. The canal is regarded as three biggest hydraulic works in Qing Dynsty, the rest two are Dujiang Dam and Zheguo Canal. Furthermore, it is also one the oldest canal in the world. A famous poet in Qin named Yuanmu once wrote,"the water in Xinan is so clear and limpid that you can see the shadow of the mountains in the water£¬ last minute you have just seen the peak of the mountain£¬ suddenly you found your boat was just passing the peak in the water" . It is 600 years ago that Ling Canal has become a popular sight, famous for its tranquil and peaceful landscape.

2. Maoer Mountain
Maoer Mountain covers 481sq.km, and the altitude of the highest peak is 2141.5 metres. People name it Maoer Mountain because it looks like a cat. It is the highest mountain in south China and also the cradle land of Li River.
The mountains here are grand and glorious and the scenery is very magnificent. It is a nice combination of the glory of Mt.Tai, the steepness of Mt. Hua and the tranquility of Mt. Emei. You can see elfinwoods here and hemlock, which is an acient plant on the brink of dying out. The whole sights are a best choice for travelling, exploration, seeking and making holiday.

Outline of the Project
Guilin Merryland World is invested by Mr Ma Zhi lin . This project was planned and prepared in 1992 and put into action in 1997. It is situated in Xinan of Guilin province, covering the area beyond thousand mu. With its large scale and well planning, it is regarded as the biggest travelling sites in south China.
The whole project is divided into periods, which will be completed by 2007. The first period was completed by October of 2000, including forest holiday-making village, golf club, holiday hotel and theme park.
