Long time ago, Ling River is an ocean in the heaven. And the dragon king lives in it to protect the people. And the king’s son---little dragon fish lives with his father. There is a little well near Ling River, called Shuangru Well (situates at backyards of merryland’s golf court). As far as the well and the river are concerned, there goes a legend love story.
In ancient times, there are a few farmers living around the river. A family has two lovely twin daughters, the elder named Azi and the younger named Amei. They always do some washing at the well, which is connecting to the dragon king’s palace.
One day, the little dragon saw Azi paddling at the well and suddenly turned into a handsome young man. They fell in love at the first sight, and then travelling around the mountains and rivers. Sometimes later, the little dragon asked Azi to marry him and took her to his palace. Azi accepted willingly and went with him.
A few years passed, Azi went back to see her sister, Amei, and told her how happy and luxury life she led. But all these made Azi become so jealous. The other day, she took Amei to the well and threw her into the well.
Pretending, she came to the palace. The little dragon didn’t find out what happened and treat Azi as Amei. Gradually, he found the woman wasn’t the real Azi. So he tried to find out the truth. When he came to the well, he saw an aigrette keeping crying at him, and the voice was just the same as Amei. He brought this secret to the old Mr. Moon. Then Mr. Moon told him the whole story. The little dragon suddenly realized what had happened and went back. At that time, Azi was so frightened and ashamed that she turned into a ugly duck at last.
Mr. Moon felt sympathy about the lover’s tragedy, so he arranged a date for them the seventh day of every month. Unfortunately, they can see each other only in the shape of fish and aigrette. Therefore, the fishes in Ling River are always looking up, and the birds in Ling River are always lowering their heads as if looking for things.
Today, when we came back to the Moon Temple, we can always see aigrette flying around. Maybe, one day they can become a real couple walking over the vale which is full of beautiful camellias, and enjoy their happy life forever.
